#4 Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future [Ashlee Vance] – Buy Now: Paperback | Hardback | Audio
What you are today is not important . . . for in this runaway bestseller you will learn how to change your life by applying the secrets you are about to discover in the ancient scrolls.
“I will persist until I succeed.
I was not delivered into this world into defeat, nor does failure course in my veins. I am not a sheep waiting to be prodded by my shepherd. I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep.
The slaughterhouse of failure is not my destiny.
I will persist until I succeed.”
—From the ancient scroll marked III in The Greatest Salesman in the World
I chose these five books because I feel they offer a complete crash course in all areas of self help. The first book is my number one choice for the best self help books of all time list because it really teaches you about money. It covers all aspects of how people look at money versus how we should look at money. It talks about the world’s economic state and drills down into the core principles and foundations of building wealth and a sustainable future.
The next two books need no introduction. Dale Carnegie has sold millions of books. The first, How To Win Friends and Influence People teaches you how to treat people and how to influence them to be more inclined to join your thought patterns. It seems like such a simple concept, but in the world we live in today, very few people use the principles in this book. It changed my entire approach on everything from how I treat people, how I achieve sales and much more. The second Carnegie book is How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. I remember picking this book up, simply because the first one was so helpful to me. This book teaches you to not sweat the small stuff and not worry about hardships that can happen in life. Carnegie gives powerful examples in his writings that will likely transform the way you look at problems, worries, stress and life. If you want to be successful in life, you’re going to be dealing with a mountain of problems and issues that will attack you from all angles. This book will protect you from letting the problems drag you down and giving up on your dreams.
Number four on the list is Ashlee Vance‘s book on Elon Musk. Ashlee got inside access to Elon’s life, so if you were wondering, yes, the book is accurate and honest. It shows a man that went from nothing to everything to nothing and then to everything. After reading it, you will be amazed at how much hardship one person can contend with and still succeed. It’s upsetting, powerful, funny and real. I can’t imagine another author doing a better job to portray Elon’s life. Understanding that Elon was not just a guy that built three billion dollar companies from the ground and lives the perfect life is key to success. When you read all the suffering and mental torture Elon went through to get where he is, you will re-think how severe the little issues you’re facing in your life really are.
So far, my list for the best self help books of all time list has covered how to understand money, how to attract and influence people to grow your social life and business, how to stop worrying and start living a fulfilled life and how one of the most successful men on earth went through absolute hell and still pushed through to make it to the top. There’s just one more thing that hasn’t been touched on, and that’s sales. As Mark Cuban said, sales cures all, and that couldn’t be more true. No sales = No business.
There are lots of great sales books, like Grant Cardone’s Sell or Be Sold, Trump’s The Art of the Deal, and many more, but the final book on the list is The Greatest Salesman in the World. It’s a best seller and has a loyal following. Just go and give it a read. I chose this one over any of the others because it doesn’t involve any kind of marketing, technology or internet. It is a story that shares the core principles or sales so you can re-wire your brain before you utilize all the modern tools at your disposal.
I hope you enjoyed the list of my best self help books of all time and I hope you pick up all five books and give them a read. If you want to contact me with any questions, comments, suggestions or you’d like to hear about more of my favorite books, leave a comment below and I will get back to you!
